Cable Tray Fill
The Cable Tray Sizing Module utilizes NEC® specifications 392.9(A)1-3, 392.9(B), 392.9(C)1-3, 392.9(D), 392.9(E)1-2, 392.9(F), 392.10(A)1-4, 392.10(B), 392.11(B)3, 392.12 and 392.13(B) for its calculations.


The module performs calculations of both multi-conductor cables and single conductors dependent on conductor size, insulation type, diameter and usage with a very simple user interface.

Both the conductor's and cable's sections are integrated into Volts' conductors and cables databases. These databases are 100% user definable. Although the conductor's database is derived from NEC® Chapter 9, Table 8 and Table 310-13 specifications, they can be fine tuned to suit your exact requirements.

The cable tray selections are congruent with NEC® Section 392.9 and include ladder, ventilated trough, solid bottom, ventilated channel and solid channel cable trays utilizing their standard sizes also described in Section 392.9.

Simply select either a conductor or cable, add them to the selected items display, select a cable tray type and press the equal button. Volts' cable tray sizing module correctly displays the cable tray size, the corresponding NEC® Section utilized in its calculations and any additional regulations required.

A very informative and graphical report can be obtained after the analysis calculation is accomplished. Additionally, the entered cable / conductor information can be saved and retrieved for future comparison or analysis.

Cable trays can also be sized from Volts' main circuit load analysis module as part of the worksheet.


It simply cannot be any easier or more accurate to obtain the correct information the first time.
